Complex threads are a challenge for every manufacturer and quality supervisory department. One focus area of Decom Gages research & development activities has been recently on gage systems for graphite electrode tapered threads on nipples and pins. These electrodes are mainly used for electric arc furnaces. Decom Gages systems are of course in compliance with unified global standards.

The first gage system for pin threads and nipple threads was sold and tested on the ground at a client in 2005. Since then Decom Gages systems have been constantly reviewed and improved based on end-user feedback and practical experience. The gage system 2.0 is in compliance with DIN EN 60239 and IEC 60239. Compared to pure testing according to JISR7202 the new gage system 2.0 enables users to read the effective pitch diameter and setting angle of the taper (9°27‘44‘‘ / 9,4623°) while using the system without any additional calculations or lookups in additional spreadsheets - Decom Gages systems help to eliminat a typical source of errors.

The real value of the effective pitch diameter and setting angle of the taper is shown via scale reading on the system or - if requested by the user - a digital dial indicator.

The systems offer another big advantage for the user - the weight! Decom Gages has optimized the system using the maximum savings specific for the used materials to make the gages light as possible - as you can see: Decom gages products are designed by people on the ground focusing on getting the job done!

Decom Gages patent-registered system includes a set of taper thread masters and the corresponding taper thread gages for taper thread sockets and pins.

Clients can choose between three different applicable materials according to each client’s main objectives.

For more information please contact Decom Gages so that we can send you the user manual with a detailed description of the system, how to use it and an illustrative overview.
